BENEFITS OF CHOOSING TO EACH HER OWN
Your midwife knows you well and you know her. (These words are often spoken by women who contact me who are currently cared for by other midwifery practices. They say they have nothing negative to say about their care but they feel it is impersonal.)
NO FRONT DESK, NO NURSING STAFF. 24/7 DIRECT ACCESSS TO YOUR MIDWIFE BY TEXT/EMAIL/PHONE.
All of your needs are addressed by your midwife. Appointment scheduling, follow up of lab results, any questions or concerns that arise between appointments.
APPOINTMENTS FIT TO YOUR NEEDS.
Two hours allotted for first visits, one hour allotted for follow up prenatal visits, whether or not you require that much time for your visit.
SATURDAY AND EVENING OFFICE HOURS.
THE SOLE MIDWIFERY OWNED PRACTICE IN THE DENVER METRO AREA.
When midwives own their practices ALL practice decisions are their’s to make. Midwifery autonomy defines and supports the midwifery philosophy of care. One example, with ruptured membranes before labor, no policy insisting on induciton of labor within a certain number of hours when all is well.
LONG EXPERIENCE BOTH OUT OF HOSPITAL AND IN HOSPITAL.
Experience informs your practice making care safer and more satisfying for the mother and baby.
WIDE NETWORK OF EXPERT PHYSICIANS.
Wide network of expert physicians with whom the midwife consults when medical problems/concerns arise, including obstetricians, maternal fetal medicine physicians, family practice physician, hematologist, pulmonologist, infectious disease specialist, accessible to the midwife by their cell phones.
Labor assessment performed by your midwife, whether you are planning a hospital or home birth. If planning a hospital birth you can choose to have your midwife see you at home prior to going to the hospital.
Years of assisting women to breastfeed in consultation with many lactation consultants. Protection of the “golden hour” following birth for nursing.
CONSISTENT EXCELLENT OUTCOMES.
No injured newborns or mothers. No deaths. C-section rate consistently at 5% or less.
In network with most plans.
MEDICAL MALPRACTICE INSURANCE.
Medical malpractice insurance carried at the same level as any other professional OB practice in the U.S.
LIMITED NUMBER OF MONTHLY DUE DATES.
Limited number of monthly due dates allows your midwife to you remain with you during labor to provide support (and advocacy in the hospital setting).
OUT OF HOSPITAL PRACTICE.
Out of hospital practice is carried over to the hospital as the midwife is comfortable with caring for low risk women in the same way as she would at home or in a birth center.
